It’s not official yet, because there are some formalities to be done, but I can share the announcement and celebrate publicly.
I’m a Pionear!
Yes, with the -ea- which comes from Nearpod.
I have been the one with -ee- since first grade, but that’s a long story for a different kind of article.
The Network
The PioNear program is Nearpod’s way of creating a network of teachers who regularly use Nearpod in creative ways. It’s a step up from the Advanced Certified Educator (NCE). Perhaps a few steps up.
There is a dedicated Facebook group just for the Pionears. I look forward to having the first row to the exclusive updates and perks.
There hasn’t been a recruitment call for a few years, so the existing Pionears are all veterans. There are about 300 Pionears in 18 countries. I already feel the impostor syndrome! Our first meeting is in two weeks so I can only guess what’s in store.
The Benefits
What I already know is that we get to beta test new features, perhaps even get involved in some steps of the design process. We get to hold a workshop at the Camp Engage (if accepted by the committee, I suppose). The best perk of all is that my personal Nearpod account gets to be upgraded to full access and unlimited storage. I will still keep my GOLD account with the school email, for ease of access of my Google Apps.
Oh boy, the calm long weekend just got pumped up with adrenalin.
